FAQs regarding Triumph Motorcycle Finance Credit Agreements

Can I finance my motorcycle purchase?

  • Yes, you can apply for finance with Triumph Motorcycle Finance. Your dealer will be able to explain the finance options available to you and answer any questions you have.You must be at least 18 years old and a UK resident to enter into a finance agreement and credit is subject to status.

What information do I need to provide to apply for finance?

  • To process your finance application you will need to provide the following information to your dealer who will in turn pass this to Triumph Motorcycle Finance
    • Your personal details such as your name, address, date of birth, contact and employment details.
    • Proof of your identity through your full UK, or EU, driving licence
    • Details of your bank account for direct debit repayments.
    • Details of the motorcycle you are purchasing and the finance plan you have chosen.

If you consent Triumph Motorcycle Finance will then undertake a credit search and provide you with a decision on your finance application. In some instances, Triumph Motorcycle Finance may require further information to support your finance application, in which case they will contact the dealer or yourself.

Do you need to know my salary or outgoings?

  • Your dealer will discuss with you the affordability of the agreement and in some instances Triumph Motorcycle Finance will ask you for further information to support this if required.  You should not commit to a finance agreement unless you are confident that you can afford the repayments throughout the term of the agreement and have no unforeseen reasons that would prevent you continuing to afford the agreement.

What happens when my agreement is set up?

  • You will receive a copy of your agreement from Triumph Motorcycle Finance and a letter confirming when your first repayment is due. You will also be able to use the Black Horse website www.blackhorse.co.uk to manage your account.

Can I change my repayment date if it is not convenient?

  • Yes, when your agreement is set up, Triumph Motorcycle Finance will write to you to let you know what date your repayments are due each month. You can change your repayment date to any date within 30 days of your repayment date by calling Triumph Motorcycle Finance or through www.blackhorse.co.uk Manage My Account. If you do this within the first 30 days of the agreement, there is no charge, however if you need to change your repayment date after this time, you may be charged interest for making this change.  This is because the amount of interest originally charged was calculated using the expected repayment date so by changing the repayment day, daily interest will be charged for each day you are extending your agreement.  Please note, Triumph Motorcycle Finance only allow one change of repayment date per 12 months.

What if I move address, change contact details, change name or change bank?

  • Should any of your personal details change, please telephone contact Triumph Motorcycle Finance to make them aware and so they can ensure your information is up to date and accurate. It is important you let Triumph Motorcycle Finance know of any changes to ensure you receive information about your agreement. When you change bank it is necessary to inform Triumph Motorcycle Finance so they can update your direct debit instruction.  

What if I have a problem with my goods?

  • In the first instance you should discuss the issue with your dealer but if they cannot resolve the problem you can contact Triumph Motorcycle Finance and they will work with you and your dealer to resolve the issue.

How do I know how much I have paid on my agreement?

  • Triumph Motorcycle Finance will keep you up to date with an annual statement and you can request an extra statement, outstanding balance or settlement figure at any time by contacting Triumph Motorcycle Finance or through www.blackhorse.co.uk Manage My Account

Can I pay off my agreement early and how much will it cost me?

  • Yes, you can pay your agreement off early. To find out how much you need to pay, you will need to request a settlement figure from Triumph Motorcycle Finance or through www.blackhorse.co.uk Manage My Account. Your settlement figure will be calculated in accordance with the Consumer Credit Act (Early Settlement) Regulations 2004

Is it possible to make a lump sum repayment?

  • Yes, you can telephone Triumph Motorcycle Finance and request a Partial Early Settlement which will detail the rebate of interest you will be receiving on your agreement and you can decide whether to reduce your monthly repayments or the term of you agreement. Please note, if you have a Personal Contract Purchase agreement with an optional final repayment, you are only able to reduce your regular monthly repayments.

Can I transfer my agreement to someone else?

  • No you are not able to transfer your credit agreement to anyone else. If you want to sell the motorcycle, you will need to arrange settlement of the agreement.

Can I take my motorcycle abroad?

  • Yes if you are taking the motorcycle out of the United Kingdom for more than 28 days you must contact Triumph Motorcycle Finance to obtain consent. You must ensure that the motorcycle remains fully insured throughout your agreement

What happens if I am in financial difficulty or miss a repayment?

  • If you think you are experiencing financial difficulties or miss a repayment you need to contact Triumph Motorcycle Finance as soon as possible and they will try to help you with the problems you are facing. If you miss a repayment, this may impact your credit rating and may affect your ability to obtain credit in the future. Missed repayments may incur a fee and you can find out more detail about this in the Terms and Conditions of your agreement.

My motorcycle has been written off or stolen, should I stop my repayments by cancelling my direct debit?

  • No you must continue making your monthly repayments until the matter has been resolved by your insurance company. You must notify Triumph Motorcycle Finance as soon as possible after the theft or accident and have details of your insurance company to hand.

What do I do if the insurance claim pay out for the written off/stolen motorcycle is not enough to settle my agreement and I still owe a balance?

  • If the amount paid by your insurance company is not enough to cover your agreement settlement figure, you will be required to pay the difference. If you purchased an optional GAP product, you may be able to make a claim to cover the difference between the insurance claim amount and the agreement settlement figure.

What should I do if I would like to choose another motorcycle?

  • Visit your dealer to discuss a part-exchange of your current motorcycle for a new one. Your dealer will explain the options available and give you all the help you need in finding a new motorcycle and the right finance solution. New finance agreements are subject to status.

I'd like to keep my motorcycle, what should I do?

  • Simply make all your repayment including the final repayment and purchase fee and the motorcycle is yours to keep. The purchase fee is paid with your final repayment.

I have a Personal Contract Purchase agreement which has a Goods Return Option. I'd like to hand my motorcycle back. How do I get it collected?

  • When you are coming towards the end of your agreement, Triumph Motorcycle Finance will write to you with details of the options available to you which include paying the final lump sum repayment to own the motorcycle or returning the motorcycle under the goods return option. If you want to return the goods, you will need to let Triumph Motorcycle Finance know and they will arrange a date for the collection of your motorcycle.  On the day of collection your motorcycle will be inspected and you may be charged for any damage that falls outside of the fair wear and tear guidelines. (A guide to fair wear and tear will be included for your information). Also if you have exceeded the maximum agreed mileage you will be charged for each excess mile at the rate quoted on your credit agreement.
